Creating a series is a nice way to explore a specific subject, to get to know it better, to understand it, to play with it. It’s also a way to explore different styles and get out of our comfort zone! Overall a demanding but very rewarding process…
Mountains series
Mountains have always been my comfort place. I have so many sweet memories linked to hikes in the Alps. Mountains are grandiose. I love how moody they can become on foggy mornings and rainy afternoons. Mountains are a place of widlife, from blooming flowers to colorful insects and graceful ibexes. Mountains are all the elements at once. Air, because they defy gravity and play with the weather. The fascinating rocks and their structure remind us of the fire whence they come from. The plants, flowers, roots, mud and trees can be lush embodiment of the earth in all its states. Water cascades down the slopes and fill in pristine lakes. Mountains are equilibrium. Still though ever changing.
Running waters series
Water… Such a fascinating topic! It can change a whole landscape and move it from average to epic. But water is ever changing and so challenging to capture. Water is an element you can find in many of my paintings, but in this series, I the main characters are waterfalls, streams and other running waters.
Coasts series
Coasts have always inspired me. The waves, the movement of the water, the sand dunes, the pebbles, the cliffs… Nature is so inspiring and moving, and I love to try to capture that. Harbor are also an endless source of inspiration. Boats, industrial structures… they all have their personnality and offer some nice challenges to the painter!
Fantasy forests series
Forests are a place to reconnect with nature. The sounds, the smells, the atmosphere… It always feel like we are entering another world. Forests can be scary, they can be protective, they have a pace of their own and a life of their own. When you enter the forest, you can definitely feel that you are part of something bigger than you. I find them magical, and this is what I try to convey through this series.
