Sketchbooks are my safe place. I usually have many sketchbooks ongoing at once, with more or less specific purposes. I always keep one next to the sofa to doodle, play and try mixes in the evening while discussing or watching a movie. I also sometimes have thematic sketchbooks, or travel sketchbooks, or study sketchbooks, or all of this at once! I usually enjoy having a variety ot paper types and sketchbook sizes that I can grab depending on my mood. And I very often do my own sketchbooks (nothing fancy, but I can choose my size and paper type).
